Watch This Space | One Room Challenge: Week 8
Hi Friends!
If you’re just getting here, I’m renovating my kitchen for this season’s One Room Challenge! Spoiler alert - I did not finish in 8 weeks. Since I didn’t start at the very beginning it’s actually only been about 6 and a half weeks since I started the project so I wasn’t necessarily expecting to finish. That said, I am very, very close! A lot closer than I expected to be, in fact!
You can catch up on past weeks progress and details on the project here:
Week 1: Kitchen Plans, Before Photos, and Mood Board
Week 2: Traditional Floorplan vs. Open Concept
Week 3: New Floors for an Old House
Week 4: Choosing Appliances
Week 5: IKEA Cabinets & Counters
Week 6: Lighting & Electrical
Week 7: Backsplash
In the last week we finished hanging cabinets, I built a ton of drawers, installed cabinet hardware, and got the appliances delivered! We only have a few things to go!
Demo- Frame out the new pocket door
- Insulate and vapour barrier exterior wall
- New electrical, venting the range hood
- Replace drywall as needed & paint
- Replace/reinforce subfloor
- Lay underlayment
- New floor tile & grout
Install cabinets- DIY appliance garages
- Run new heating/cooling vent for kitchen, gas for the gas range,
electrical for the dishwasher, and water for fridge and dishwasher - Install counters
- Install and grout backsplash
- Install appliances
- Finishing touches
Even though the kitchen isn’t done, and isn’t even functioning yet, it already feels so warm and inviting, everything I wanted this space to be.
Stay tuned here, I’ll be updating this post when the kitchen is finished in just a few short weeks and I’ve still got to show you all about my custom appliance garages! While you’re waiting you can following along with real-time progress over on my Instagram, and check out the other amazing projects (many of which are actually finished!) over on the One Room Challenge blog.
